A Slice of Pie

 Black Friday

Up and gone before the sun.
Got to get that shopping done.
Rush and scramble ,outta my way.
Man I hate these black friday's.
Credit card is about to max.
And I haven't hit the clearence racks.
Get in quick and get it done.
To so many more stores, I've got to run.
Wish I was still back in bed.
With the covers over my head.
When I get home I'm gonna drink 5 beers.
And not shop again until next year.
All these people in my way.
I really do hate black friday.

Migraines Suck. I had a real blinder that lasted several days. I ended up having to go to the doctor and get a hypo to get rid of it. But it's gone now. Woo Hoo!! She lives again!
I tell you I missed this "place". I am going to have a lot of catching up to do. So many blogs to read. I need to see whats going on in all your lives. And I have so much to do to get ready for tomorrow. But dang it it's just going to have to wait awhile until I make the rounds here.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Gee it's good to back. Love,Pie

 Father Ed's message hit home.

I had a nice night last night. It was one of those nights that is best described as Peaceful. Rog and I went to 5:30 mass. Father Ed was in rare form.He is always a kind man with a good message but last night he was great. His homily was both funny and touching. As it always is with advent starting next week the message was about being prepared. Being prepared for the next coming. It reminded me of the Curtis Mayfield song-"People get ready there's a train a coming. You don't need no baggage. You just get on board. All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin. You don't need no ticket you just thank the Lord"

But the heart of Father's message was about taking care of each other. Feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the imprisoned. As he said God doesn't only take into account what you did do but also what you didn't do when you had the chance.

This morning I got to thinking that there are a lot if imprisoned people around. In nursing homes,in their own home,in hospitals. Not held in by bars but sometimes by need. Need of care, need of a place to live, need of medicine. God said "What you have done for the least of them is what you have done for me" I am my brothers keeper and I am failing miserably at it.

Maybe it's the time of year that makes me take a look at myself, what have I given? What have I done to make someone, anyones life a little better,to ease their burdens? It isn't always easy to search your soul. Many times I don't like what I find. Laziness, selfishness, and my uncanny ability to turn a blind eye.

But it is also something that I need to do now and then. Take a look at who I am and who I want to be. Yes it is probably the time of year that makes me take a long hard look in the mirror. This I do know when that train comes round I want to be on it.

 How my morning went

Walking through Menards pushing the giant over sized cart.
Following my husband up and down aisles of plumbing parts
electrical thingy's, various power tools which he looks at with a gleam in his eyes.
Oopps meet up with another woman pushing another giant over sized cart and following her husband.
We each push our giant over sized carts as close to the over stacked shelves as we dare and try to slide by one another.
We smile at each other. In silent commiseration.
We almost make it past each other only to have the back wheels of the giant over sized carts catch on each others.
We each smile a little wider. Dang these Giant over sized carts I say.
Yes she says they are sure hard to maneuver.
We unlock our wheels and go to catch up with our husbands.
We go up and down aisles.Looking for caulk and light bulbs and things we really need.
Finally my husband finishes his list.I wheel the giant over sized cart to the checkout counter.
We load all the items now bagged back in to the giant over sized cart and I push it out to the truck.
When my husband finishes loading the bags in to the truck I push that ridiculously giant over sized cart to the cart corral.
I'm glad to done with it. I climb into the truck slam the door shut and ask can we go to Burger king now?
